Child Modeling and Acting in Pennsylvania: A Parent’s Guide

If your child loves the camera, you’ve probably wondered how kids actually get booked for commercials, catalogs and print ads. Here’s how it works in Central Pennsylvania, and what to expect at each step.

How old does my child need to be?

Our youth division represents children and teens ages 4 to 17. For babies and toddlers under 4, we keep a separate baby and toddler database that clients can request from. If you have more than one child, submit a separate form for each.

What do I need to apply?

Clear, recent photos matter more than professional ones, especially for young children. Natural light, a plain background and a simple outfit let your child’s personality come through. You don’t need expensive headshots to get started. Follow the application instructions closely, since incomplete submissions may not be considered.

Clear, recent photos in natural light beat a studio headshot at this stage.

What happens after we apply?

Our team reviews every submission. If your child is approved to move forward, you’ll receive an email with the next steps. Please don’t call the office to check on status; everything comes by email, and calling won’t speed things up.

What’s expected of parents?

A parent or legal guardian must attend any scheduled meetings and sign our minor talent contract. You don’t have to be at every booking yourself, but a reliable adult chaperone must go with your child. Most bookings happen during normal business hours, so a flexible daytime schedule for both your child and their chaperone makes a big difference.

Are there any fees?

There’s no fee to apply and no agency fee. Signed talent pay a one-time $25 fee to activate their talent portal, where casting calls, bookings and their portfolio live. Families can activate up to six people for $50.

How does my child get booked?

When a client needs talent, casting calls go out through the talent portal. You’ll see the details, including the dates and the role, and can respond from your phone. If your child is selected, you’ll get everything you need before the shoot.

CALL SHEET
Before the shoot you get the call sheet: times, address and who to ask for.

Tips for a great first booking

Arrive early and relaxed. Bring a snack, water and something quiet to do during waits. Follow any wardrobe notes exactly. Most of all, keep it fun. Clients remember kids who are comfortable and happy on set.
